Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
The goals of the SSI Transition Project are to help California’s disabled youth make a successful transition from foster care, improve local practices in transition planning for disabled foster youth and develop a state and federal policy agenda to promote SSI utilization among foster youth in transition.

How to apply for or renew an identification (ID) card
DMV issues two types of ID cards. A regular ID card valid for six years and a senior citizen ID card valid for 10 years. To qualify for a senior citizen ID card, you must be age 62 or older.

Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk
Youth can apply and obtain a certified copy birth certificate the same day, must be born 1964 to present, birth place LA County, and no legal name changes or adoption. Currently, the cost for certified copy birth certificates is $17.00 dollars and original abstract exchanges are free if in good condition.
