The Gay & Lesbian Center is home to a comprehensive array of services. These services include youth programs and housing; legal aid and legal assistance programs; education and enrichment courses; primary and specialty medical care; employment training and placement services; programs for seniors; theater and cultural arts programming; computer training skills; Internet access in a state-of-the-art CyberCenter; civil rights and health policy advocacy programs; HIV prevention and education programs; and extensive HIV/AIDS related services. Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), is an international organization serving more than 80,000 members. PFLAG affiliates are located in more than 444 communities across the United States and in 11 other countries. The Los Angeles chapter, one of the oldest in the PFLAG organization, is also one of the most active, with monthly meetings, publications, help lines, a speaker's bureau, and various support groups. The Youth Development Program receives a set budget every year from state and federal government sources.  Resources are distributed according to need and not as an entitlement. Since the budget is limited, please note that the services and benefits described in this website are available to eligible transitioning youth 16 - up to their 21st birthday in Los Angeles County, on a needs-basis, until all funds are spent for the fiscal year (the fiscal year ends June 30th).  There are some services available for youth 14 - 15.  Some of the resources are listed for your information and ARE NOT to be considered an endorsement by Los Angeles County.
