Steps to Independent Living

New Job Opportunities!

If you would like us to post a job opportunity, please e-mail the information to Phil Stripling, Employment Resource Specialist  at  stripp@dcfs.lacounty.gov.

If you need job skills, this might be a good start! Sharpen your on-the-job, workplace skills so you're ready for the challenge. If you are 16-21, you can take job readiness classes at Independent Living Skills Enhancement Programs to prepare for the work world.
Team up with an employment specialist to help you find job openings and ace those interviews. Go to a class or workshop and learn how to begin your job search, write a winning resume, practice interviewing, fill out applications and dress for success. You might even decide to do an internship or earn while you learn on the job!

Find out what you're good at and what you might want to do when you grow up! You can take a test or two and discover what kind of work suits your personality. A job counselor can help you zero in on a job and career path that's best for you and develop a plan for how to get there. You know what they say: "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." And we want you to be a winner!
